Decades of tree and biomass analysis jointly carried out by Florida State University and Shell Energy have led to the planting of the biggest single "Energy Crop Plantation" in the entire United States.

This Plantation spans approximately a hundred thirty acres and is home to over two-hundred and fifty-thousand planted trees such as cottonwoods (native to the region) and eucalyptus (which are non-invasive) along with many row crops which include soybeans.

This organization of "super trees" was brought into being due to the University's joint study with other agencies including Shell, the Us Department of Energy, the Common Purpose Institute, along with groups of various individuals who are trying to develop sustainable energy sources for the future.

This analysis is focused on the planting and processing of biomass energy resources from fast-growing crops known as "closed loop biomass" or basically "energy crops".

The project seeks to build up "power plants" like wood-pulp or wood-fiber plants and clean bio-gas to be employed by industries. Plants such as sugarcane which could be utilized for ethanol development and crops including soybeans for bio-diesel fuel production.

University participation in renewable power study is also going on at Penn State University. At Penn State, specific study is focused on the growth of hydrogen power as a practical alternative energy source.

The researchers involved think that mankind is moving toward a hydrogen-fueled economy as a result of the needs for us to decrease air pollution and uncover other options for energy apart from petroleum to power up the United States.

Hydrogen power burns clean and can be endlessly renewed, as it may be drawn from water and crop plants. Hydrogen power would thus be a sustainable energy resource to be found within the US' own infrastructure while the world's supply of (cost-effective) oil peaks and actually starts to decline.

The University seeks to assist with the commercial growth and development of hydrogen powered fuel cells, which could be usable in place of or in conjunction with combustion engines for all of our cars.

When President Bush fairly recently announced his alternative energy initiative, he determined that the government would certainly develop five "Sun Grant" centers for concentrated study.

Oregon State University has the honor of having been preferred as one of these centers, and has been issued government grants of $20 million dollars for each of the next 4 years in order to execute its mission.

OSU will lead the way in studying sustainable energy as it represents the interests of the Pacific Islands, the US' Pacific Territories, and nine western states. OSU President Edward Ray says, the study being conducted through OSU's Sun Grant Center can contribute directly to our meeting President Bush's challenge for energy independence.

Particular research into renewable power being conducted at OSU by different teams of scientists right now include a project to determine the best way to efficiently convert such products as straw into a source of sustainable biomass fuel. Another one is aimed at studying the best way to efficiently convert wood fibers into liquid fuel.

Make the effort and conduct your own analysis on, "energy pendant wiki" and "what is scalar energy?" Once you've accomplished this, support the renewable power movement by making a smart investment on your own energy pendant.

Photovoltaic cells - an array of black squares, which comprises a solar panel; are getting more efficient, and gradually less expensive, all the time.

When talking about a windmill, nowadays we usually refer to that particular machine used to convert wind energy into mechanical energy.

Many researchers believe that harnessing the power of the atom in fission reactions is the most significant alternative energy resource that we have.

Geothermal energy is a largely untapped area of alternative energy potential, as it simply taps the energy being naturally produced by the earth herself.

There has been much debate about what is often called "free" energy-energy that can supposedly, with the right technology, be drawn straight out of the atmosphere, and in very abundant supply.

The best method of educating young people about alternative energy production that this writer has ever witnessed is the use of the PicoTurbine Company's kits, books, and projects.

Vertical windmills aren't such a recent concept. In fact, despite that we are accustomed to seeing horizontal axis windmills, the first windmills invented were the vertical ones. The first functional types were invented in the 9th century, but their design has changed very much over the years in order to get a higher efficiency from them.
